Mary
Dallimore joined the CAAIF Board in 1999, and
brings with her a wealth of practical experience in the field of
association management and practices.
Mary’s past experience includes several years as an
editorial assistant on the CBC National News, and researcher on "As
It Happens". She moved into the field of medicine in 1984 as
administrative coordinator of postgraduate medical education at the
University of Western Ontario. Upon moving to Ottawa in 1989, she was
engaged by the Royal College to work on several projects for the Office of
Education. She prepared a workshop for new reviewers for the Educational
Standards Unit, rewrote both the "General Information and Regulations
on Training Requirements and Certification Examinations" and the
"General Standards of Accreditation" booklets, and initiated the
rewrite of the specialty-specific standards of accreditation.
Mary has been the Manager of the National Specialty
Society Management and Liaison Office at the Royal College since its
inception in 1993. The office currently offers management and financial
services and is head office to 14 national specialty societies or medical
specialist organizations.
Mary’s special interest in the Foundation, spurred on
by her son Joel’s anaphylaxis to peanuts, is to promote public education
and raise money for research in the areas of allergy, asthma and
immunology.
