Name: Marie-Noël Primeau
City/Province: Baltimore, Maryland
At which institution do you do your research? Johns Hopkins Asthma and Allergy Center, Baltimore
What is your main area of research? Clinical research in latex allergy and drug allergy.
How long have you been working at this research? Fourteen months
How has your research benefited patients? We are about to finish research that evaluates if medication stored in vials closed with rubber stoppers can be safely administered to latex allergic patients. If we prove that it is not safe, we wish to ask pharmaceutical companies to modify their stoppers so they are safe for latex allergic people.
What future benefits to you envision with continued research? I envision, after completing my research fellowship, continuing a career in Canada, where I will do clinical research in the field of allergy that will continue to benefit patients.
What would you say is the most interesting aspect of your work? Continual learning with the help of the patients who accept to be research volunteers.
