Asthma Canada-CAAIF Research Grant in Asthma Innovation and Impact

The objective of the Basic Science Research Grant in Asthma is to support innovative basic science research projects that improve the understanding of asthma and/or have a significant impact on the concepts, methods, treatments, and/or technologies applicable to asthma and/or comorbidities.
The objective of the Clinical Research Grant in Asthma is to support innovative clinical research projects that improve the health and quality of life of asthma patients and/or bridge the gap between research and clinical care.

There are two grants available in the amount of $75,000 each.
Graduate Student Awards in Asthma
Applications due: March 18, 2026 at 11:59 pm in the time zone of the applicant
​
Objective: To create value-added opportunities for the training, education and professional development of graduate students, to promote greater understanding of the causes, and mechanisms of asthma with a view towards improvement of asthma treatments and potential cures.
​
There are two awards for PhD students valued at $30,000 each; One award for MSc students valued at $15,000 each.
CAAIF Graduate Student Research Grant in Asthma

Applications due: March 18, 2026 at 11:59 pm in the time zone of the applicant

Objective: To promote greater understanding of the causes, and mechanisms of asthma with a view towards improvement of asthma treatments and potential cures. Applications with interest in severe asthma are encouraged.
​
There is one Grant for a PhD student in the amount of $30,000.
CAAIF-CASP Research Grant in Hereditary Angioedema (HAE)
Applications due: May 13, 2026 at 11:59 pm in the time zone of the applicant

Objective: To support a high-quality research grant focused on Hereditary Angioedema (HAE).
There is one grant available in the amount of $50,000.
CAAIF-CLA Research Fellowship
Registration Deadline:March 25, 2026; Application Deadline: April 8, 2026
​
Objective: To build Canadian research capacity that contributes to the field of asthma and related areas that impact respiratory health in Canada. The Fellowship competition is open to Post-Doctoral or MD Fellows who are conducting research at a Canadian University, whose project aligns with the mandate of the Canadian Lung Association (CLA) and the Canadian Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Foundation (CAAIF).
This Fellowship is jointly supported by CAAIF and the Canadian Lung Association.
CAAIF-CLA Allied Health Operating Grant in Asthma

Objective: To promote research in areas that contribute to the field of asthma and related areas that impact respiratory health in Canada. Studies should include research related to an applied or clinical question using quantitative or qualitative methodologies. The study may include a basic science component, but the primary research questions must be patient-centred or clinically focused.
Award value of $15,000 + Minimum matching funds from investigator

CAAIF-CLA Allied Health Fellowship

Objective: To promote research from a thesis-based graduate study in asthma and related areas that impact respiratory health in Canada. Fellowship studies should include research related to an applied or clinical question using quantitative or qualitative methodologies. The study may include a basic science component, but the primary research questions must be applied or clinically focused.
Award value for full-time student: $5,000 + equal matching from supervisor; Part-time student: $2,500 + equal matching from supervisor
